"Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition" continues the story of the Resident Evil series with Chris Redfield, a former S.T.A.R.S. member, and his new partner Sheva Alomar. The game is set in Africa, where Chris and Sheva are sent to investigate a biological threat. They discover that a new type of virus, the Uroboros Virus, is being developed and plan to stop its spread. The story explores themes of bioterrorism, and players face various enemies, including infected humans and mutated creatures.

The gameplay combines action, horror, and puzzle-solving elements, with a strong emphasis on cooperative play. Players can choose to play solo, with an AI partner, or with a friend in split-screen or online co-op mode.
