- Item Conditions & How we Grade Your Items
We will check, test and inspect each item that comes into us to make sure that we are providing the buyer the very highest quality items at the very best prices. Also to ensure that we are providing our Seller's with the most accurate valuation.
To do this, we have our own 'grading' system which is detailed as follows:
- NEW - Brand new, un-read books in the same condition as you would find in any retail outlet
- VERY GOOD - Almost new with no damage, dog-eared pages, marks and very minimal signs of previous use.
- GOOD - Undamaged, spine in tact but shows signs of previous love such as folded/dog eared pages and/or minor marks.
- FAIR - Spine in tact but shows signs of previous love such as folded/dog earded pages, marks (including a dedication) but in a readable conditon and too early for the recycling bin!
- NEW - Brand new and in the same condition as you would find in any retail outlet
- VERY GOOD - Not quite new, but in excellect condition and 'gift-worthy'! This may include items that are in fact new, but the outer packaging might be showing signs of age/slight damage
- GOOD - Clean, tidy, fully working (if applicable) and has lots of life and love left to give!
- FAIR - Showing it's age a bit or an item that is still too good for the tip!
- PART(S) MISSING - You may find this alongside one of the other GRADES above. It just means that this item is missing (or has substituted) parts that differ from the original retail packaging when new. This is always stated in the description and (in our opinion) doesn't make the item any less valuable or useable!
Books
Toys, Games & Everything Else
We may sometimes refer to an item as UNSALEABLE. These are (in our opinion) not suitable for sale and therefore will not be added to our website. Explanations as to why will be found on your estimate/valuation document
- Why can't you offer me an 'Instant' valuation online?
Put very simply, each item is unique in it's own way and we would hate to under/over value anything.
Alongside this, we want to ensure that the items we list on our website are the highest quality and the buyer knows exactly what they are getting. The vast majority of our items are PRE-LOVED so we think this is just fair!
And if that wasn't reason enough, here is an example I found only a short time ago:
I was looking at quite a rare and valuable collectible online and researching its history, heritage and current market value. I found that the best estimate for this item was between £150-£180. So, I thought id test the 'We-buy-any-stuff' type websites and the best valuation I got was £44.10! One site (shall remain nameless) offered me just 10 pence! That is why we think we need to see, test and inspect EVERY item that comes to us (even if we've bought it ourselves!)
- How do I sell my items with you and how does it all work?
Selling your items with us couldn't be easier!
Simply grab yourself a FREE 6 month membership and follow the instructions on our Trilogy Toy Exchange page.
- Why do I need a membership to sell my items?
Basically, we want to ensure you, are you and not The Highway Rat in disguise (other villainous characters are available)!
Here are a few basic rules:
✔ You are at least 18 years old
✔ Can provide photographic ID and proof of address - Full details of what we can accept can be found on our Trilogy Toy Exchange Page
✔ The legal owner of the items you want to sell - No, Aunty Linda's rare Polly Pockets you 'borrowed' 4 years ago does not mean you own them!
